Absolutely stunning original 1920s 30s era Art deco champagne iridescent carnival glass chandelier. The chandelier has been updated with new wiring, new sockets and a few replaced pieces of hardware and now works beautifully! The original finish on the brass component, chain and glass have been cleaned and polished to bring back their original beautiful luster but still keep its original patina that took a century to acquire.
The gorgeous glass shade is very large and hefty measuring approximately 16 1/4” Diameter. The outer portion of the shade is an enameled champagne pink /blush accented with some iridescent clear glass design accenting. The inner side of the shade has a beautiful iridescent/Carnival glass smooth finish and the two sides combined make a gorgeous unique look that is truly stunning.
The large glass shade is in wonderful condition overall, there are a few slight imperfections such as minor scrapes and usage ware but overall I’d say in well above average condition. All metal components have the expected normal patina of brass and metal finishes this age. There are some line striations naturally molded in the glass stem from manufacturing ( These are known as folds) “(pictured)”. This is not a crack but rather a natural molded crease imperfection within the glass, a very common phenomenon in the early years of glass manufacturing.
PLEASE NOTE- The bulbs used in the lighted photos cast some line striations/shadowing within the shade, this is not an effect of the shade itself and regular white bulbs would give a different smoother effect.
Overall this chandelier is a piece of functional art that has survived a century and brought back to life to be adorned for decades more to come, a sure head turner and worthy of the most demanding restorations where authenticity is a must.
