Antique 1920s Black Embroidered Evening Purse Filigree Frame Mirror Chain For Sale

This is a beautiful early evening bag featuring a softly gathered black fabric body decorated with exceptionally pretty floral embroidery in shades of pink, rose, lavender, blue, gold, cream, and green. The front has an elaborate floral arrangement with additional small embroidered sprigs scattered across the upper portion. The reverse has a smaller complementary floral motif.

The purse is finished with an elaborate pierced and filigree-style metal frame with decorative corner mounts and a large ornamental clasp. A fine metal chain forms the carrying handle.

The interior is lined in gray/silver-tone satin and retains two especially desirable period accessories: an original rectangular vanity mirror stored in a gathered interior pocket and a matching fabric snap-close accessory/coin pouch.

Condition:

Good antique condition overall with age-related wear. The exterior fabric shows some light surface dust/lint, handling wear, and minor age-related marks. Metal hardware has oxidation, patina, and finish wear consistent with age. Interior lining shows age and use. The original mirror has substantial deterioration/crazing to the silvered reflective surface, which is clearly visible in the photographs. This is characteristic of an old mirror and has been left intact as part of the original purse.
