Stunning antique floral still life oleograph/textured print on canvas, presented in a large 28-inch round wood frame with beautiful warm gold and brown detailing.
This piece comes directly from my family and originally belonged to my great-grandmother, with family provenance placing it before 1930. It has remained in the family for generations.
The artwork depicts a lush bouquet of cream, yellow, coral and deep red flowers in the soft, romantic style popular during the late 19th and early 20th centuries. The image is on woven canvas with a textured/varnished surface that gives it the appearance of an oil painting.
The unusual 28-inch round/tondo format and substantial period frame make this a particularly striking example of early decorative floral artwork.
The reverse retains its aged woven canvas, original-style hanging wire and old backing materials. The brown paper backing has become brittle and deteriorated over the decades and is partially missing, as clearly shown in the photographs. It has intentionally been left untouched rather than restored.
No manufacturer’s label has been located, and the artist/maker remains unidentified.
Approximate size: 28” diameter.
Condition: Beautiful antique condition with age-appropriate patina and wear. The artwork displays very well. Frame has expected wear consistent with age. Reverse paper backing is heavily deteriorated as expected. Please see photographs for the complete condition.
Provenance: From a private family collection; originally owned by the seller’s great-grandmother and known within the family to date to before 1930.
