Antique 1922 FOSCO Surgical Cart (Restored with Seea’s Direction)
An original 1922 metal surgical cart by F.O. Schoedinger Co. (FOSCO) – Aseptic Metal Furniture, Columbus, Ohio. Designed for “aseptic” use (i.e., resistant to microbial contamination), this piece is now best suited as a display-quality antique.
:Dimensions: 33” H × 21” W × 17” D
:Glass: Top pane appears original (103 years old); the two lower panes were custom-cut replacements
:Nameplate: Original FOSCO plate remains legible despite age and a prior solvent mishap—an uncommon survival detail
:Restoration: Old finishes were fully stripped over about a week, every surface meticulously cleaned, then sealed with 3 coats of primer and 4 coats of mint green.
:Design credit: Color selection and final aesthetic guided by Seea, whose eye for period-appropriate style was spot on.
I’ve owned and researched this cart for 13 years; I’ve not encountered another example with this level of preservation and with the original nameplate intact. Pricing reflects rarity and the depth of restoration, but I’m open to serious offers.I know my asking price is high, but the work and rarity justify it. I’ll entertain serious offers only.
