Beautiful antique American Dresden Plate quilt believed to date to the 1930s-early 1940s. Made from an incredible assortment of vintage cotton scraps in soft pink, aqua, turquoise, lavender, yellow, green and red, each Dresden Plate has its own combination of period prints and patterns.
The quilt features distinctive lavender-purple centers, a white cotton background, and extensive hand quilting throughout. The individual plates appear to be hand appliqued, giving this quilt the wonderful character and craftsmanship of a Depression-era handmade quilt.
It has been lovingly used over the decades and shows appropriate age, tading, softness and some fraying. A charming example of early 20th-century American quilting and a beautiful piece of textile history.
