Description: Here\'s a very handsome, medium-large 19th c Shaker oval pantry box, with its originalrich, nutty reddish-brown patina. The box features 4 fingers or swallowtails - three on the box and one on the lid, which are secured with irregular copper nails. Square pegs secure the bottom and irregular copper nails secure the lid rim.It\'s sturdily built, feeling solid but not too heavy in the hand. At 10 1/2\" L and 7\" D, it\'s a great utilitarian size for holding items, or perfect for the middle of your Shaker oval box stack or to display on its own.
Condition: Very Good Antique condition, with some age-appropriate use-wear on the lid. I see two fine, tight tiny (1/4\" or so)hairlines; one at the arch between the two bottom fingers, and a mild surface \"stretch mark\" at the narrowest part of the lid rim (not cracked). The inside is clean, with just a few tiny dings and stains on the interior.(See photos.)
