Antique 19” Bisque Doll - Leopold Lambert Automation
Well appointed French musical automation by Leopold Lambert, circa 1890-1895
We believe it to be titled “Fillette à la Toilette” (Little Girl at the Dressing Table) automation features a beautiful bisque socket-head doll standing before her personal vanity, gracefully engaging in her morning routine. She elegantly turns and nods her head, raises her right hand to dab her soft powder puff on her face and lifts the mirror with her left hand to gaze at her reflection. She has striking blue glass sleep eyes and open mouth revealing tiny, porcelain teeth and a lush blonde wig. She stands at top her original wooden platform, upholstered rich burgundy velvet. The platform does show wear for its age. Positioned before her is a miniature wooden dressing table complete with an integrated, movable wooden mirror, a small porcelain vanity jar, and delicate lace and textile trims. Inside the drawer you will find a beautiful surprise. Original label on back of platform, with French LB key. Head marked Dep with a trademark red stamp Indicates patent marking 15”
