First, disregard that fuzzy black mark you see in the pictures. It is NOT on the item but in my camera.
Here is a very interesting antique, c. 1928, pewter set by Poole Pewter of Taunton, Mass. It is in very, very good shape for its age.
The design is what is called baluster shape, which is quite attractive.I am quite impressed by the way is crafted, the weight and quality of the pewter and the extra things they did not found in modern day pewter.
One of these is on the lid and the handle (see pics.). They have a pewter spot there that strikes both areas and thus prevents the lid from being damaged when it hits the handle when open. This is the first time I have ever seen that, and it is very practical.
Also of note are the color and quality of the conductors, which are the pieces between the handle and the pot that keep the handle from getting hot. Again, very nicely done.
This set consists of what we consider a coffee pot but is actually a tea pot, a sugar bowl (no lid) and a creamer. All sit flat with no wobble. The set has developed a light \"patina\" over the years that adds depth and richness to its luster. There are a few darker marks but nothing objectionable, just the way things age.
The coffee pot is about 9 1/4\" to top of knob. The sugar bowl is about 4\" tall by 6\" wide to tips of handles. The creamer is approx. 4 1/2\" to top of spout lip.
The coffee pot looks good, there is a small flat spot but it is not a dent. I call it out for full disclosure as you will not find it unless you really look for it. The hinge is good and the lid fits correctly.
The handled sugar bowl is in good condition as is the creamer. The creamer does have a tiny dent on the side (see 2nd from last pic.).
The bottom is well marked with the Poole Pewter trademark. NOTE: The underside with the mark is bright. This is because pewter IS originally a bright metal when first crafted. The rich, deep patina on the pieces is due to age and normal oxidation. Pewter does NOT TARNISH. These have been used and the dark spots inside the pieces are from oxidation NOT dirt.
I take pride in what I offer on . I will tell you all I know and see on an item. I have lightly polished this set with pewter polish so it is clean and ready for you to display. YOU deserve it. This set will come to you from a clean, smoke and pet-free home.
