Handsome and very interesting double tea pot carving!
Origin : China
Timeframe : Unknown as to exact age, pre 1890's.
No marks.
Size : 24 cm x 12.5 cm 9.5" long, 5" wide, 5" tall
Notable features : Green hard stone, possibly mottled jade/nephrite . The basic shape is a carved double gourd teapot, with handle at one end, spout at the other, and a single hole between the two chambers. It appears to have been carved from a singles slab of jade/nephrite. The lid for the teapot was carved with a screw base, and fits well. The cover for the larger storage bowl sits simply and well. The dragon on the larger bowl holds tight to the smaller, teapot shaped burner. It is carved on both sides: with horns and wings, long whiskers, and unmistakable single white tooth on one side. A foo dog guards the larger bowl contents.
Condition - as is, we have not cleaned piece!
