Listing a medium sized wooden domed piece which I am not sure if you\'d call it a document box or possibly a small trunk or chest.1 person even thought it had possibly been used as a blanket chest. I just don\'t know exactly.
It measures approx. 23\" wide, 11 3/4\" deep and 10 1/2\" tall.Several people who have seen it said that with the mounting pieces around the piece it could possibly date from the mid 1700\'s until the mid 1800\'s.it appears to be in very good structural condition and I can also report the following facts about it:* at some point the front locking mechanism was removed* at some point the rear hinges were replaced and moved* I assume the top handle was also removed but with the single metal piece on the top I have no idea what the handle would have been or looked like.* if you look at pictures 6, 8 and 10 you can see where someone punched small holes into the wood to monogram the initials D and D into the top* if you look closely at pictures 14, 15, 16, 17,18 and 19 it also appears that to the left of the lock area, under the original lock and then to the area to the right of the lock they also punched a series of hearts into the wood
