Beautiful distressed oil painting of iris still life. The very top petal appears to be a side view profile of man’s face, and again next tallest petal a woman’s face. They face each other. Almost looks like it was intentional.
Can not put an exact year on it not signed or dated.
Appears there was some minor restoration done to the painting at some point. In certain light it is more evident, even though the restoration did an excellent job in matching the color they failed to match the sheen. (See photos)
Paint is semi thick within the flowers. Background is much thinner with stunning fade light to dark in a sepia tone. The canvas is all over cracked giving it a charming distressed feel. (See photos)

The frame judging from backside was gessoed or plaster. At some point the frame was repainted. (See photos)
Canvas measures 24x15. The stretcher is very old and canvas has been tack hammered to stretcher before the transition to staples.
No signature however there is some small scratches on bottom back frame, which could be letters or just scratches hard to tell. (See photos)
