Antique English Copper Lustre Canary Yellow Figural Pitcher c1820-1840 7” For Sale

Wonderful early 19th-century English copper lustreware pitcher, dating approximately c. 1820–1840 and probably produced in the Staffordshire region.This unusually decorative example features a warm canary/mustard-yellow ground surrounded by brilliant reflective copper lustre at the neck, rim and pedestal foot. Colorful relief-molded/applied figural decoration appears around the body, including a charming horn-playing musician and additional figures surrounded by hand-colored foliage and landscape elements.Particularly attractive details include the elaborate molded scroll handle, ornamental relief decoration beneath the pouring spout, beaded molding around the pedestal base, and extensive copper-lustre finish. The interior is glazed in a pale cream tone with copper lustre around the upper portion.Measurements: approximately 7” high × 4” body diameter × 8” overall from tip of spout to farthest point of handle.The underside is unmarked, as is common with many early English lustrewares of this type. Maker is unknown; Staffordshire attribution is based upon form, construction and decorative characteristics.Antique condition with expected age-related wear, rubbing and minor surface imperfections consistent with a piece approximately two centuries old.
