Antique French Baroque Brass 11\" Corpus Christi Altar Crucifix Wood Cross c1900 For Sale

Up for sale is a premier, museum-quality late 19th to early 20th-century French Baroque Revival wall or altar crucifix. This exceptional devotional piece features highly detailed, heavy cast brass hardware beautifully paired with its original solid, warm-toned hardwood cross.
The brass emblem is expertly designed in the traditional high Baroque aesthetic, featuring a prominent, explosive sunburst backing the Corpus Christi, a highly detailed INRI scroll plaque at the top, and a classic scallop-shell and scroll finial at the base. The reverse of the corpus is traditionally hollow-cast using historical lost-wax methods, showing the rich, dark natural oxidation expected of genuine age.
