Authentic antique French hand-carved wooden oval picture frame, sourced directly in France and dating to circa 1890–1915. The frame showcases intricate pierced openwork fretwork surrounded by high-relief carved roses, wild blossoms, and foliage with subtle historic polychrome tinted accents. It currently houses an antique devotional chromolithograph of Saint Anthony and the Christ Child behind glass, complete with its original solid wood backboard and antique metal hanging hook. A distinctive accent piece for a curated gallery wall, vanity, or shelf display.
CONDITION
Very good antique condition with age-appropriate character and fine preservation. The pierced openwork carving is structurally sound and intact, showing only gentle expected edge wear on some of the carvings and light surface patina consistent with age. There is a small crack in the wood on the bottom pictured. The carvings remain in tact which is rare given age. The reverse retains its original wood backing board with some wear to the back.
