DESCRIPTION:Antique French Neyret Freres Silk Textile Victorian Street Scene Framed (under plexiglass) 19x16in
The signature \"NF\" in the lower left stands for Neyret Frères (a French manufacturer based in Lyon/St. Étienne area). Neyret Frères specialized in woven silk pictures (often called \"tissus-jacquard\" or \"silk tapestries\") from the late 19th to early 20th century (roughly 1880s–1920s). They produced affordable, high-quality decorative panels that mimicked expensive hand-woven tapestries or engravings. These pieces were popular Victorian/Edwardian home décor items. Many depicted romanticized 18th-century (Rococo/Georgian) scenes — elegant couples in period dress, street scenes, carriages, cafés, and Gothic architecture.
