I had the pleasure of attending a private estate sale in Moraga Estates, which is a gated community in the hills of Bel Air, CA. This is from the estate of a prosperous philanthropic family. The designer of the 8,000 sq ft home was noted architect and designer Cleo Baldon (the house was furnished by Cleo's classic and iconic furniture) whose brother and sister in law were the home owners.
This is a wonderful 19th century antique sterling silver figural napkin ring by world renown silver company Gorham. It depicts2 small squirrels on either side of an oval shaped engraved and shaped napkin ring.I believe the date mark is 1869 if I am not mistaken.
Excellent pre owned condition with some unevenness as you can see from the photos. These were dropped on the floor often and over the years most have lost their exact form. Signed and hallmarked as shown. Monogrammed on top as shown.It is about 2" tall x 2 3/4" wide x 1 1/4" deep and weighs 2.6 oz on my postal scale.
They had an amazing collection of napkin ring holders, Asian art, jewelry and modern art. Pieces I will be listing in the coming days and weeks.
