Antique Hand Painted Portrait Miniature Handsome Gentleman c.1830 Replacement Frame
Finely hand-painted antique portrait miniature of a handsome young gentleman, estimated to date circa 1825–1840. The portrait is housed in a later vintage replacement frame. The frame is not original to the painting.
The gentleman has expressive brown eyes, delicately shaded features, and dark, sweeping curls with long sideburns. He wears a dark coat with broad lapels, a high black cravat, and a white shirtfront. Particularly lovely detail in the face and hair gives this miniature considerable charm.
Artist and sitter are unidentified; no signature is apparent.
The vintage gold-tone metal replacement frame has glass, a decorative top loop, a rear hanging ring, and an easel support.
Measures approximately 2.75 inches across by 3.5 inches tall.
Condition:
Age-related discoloration, scattered small marks, and minor wear along the portrait’s outer edges. The reverse shows discoloration and old marks. The original frame is not present; the included frame is a later vintage replacement, with finish wear and patina. Its fabric-covered backing shows wear and old label residue. Please review all photographs, including the unframed views, as part of the condition description.
