Rare antique Japanese enamel-on-copper box attributed to the renowned Ando Jubei workshop of Nagoya, Japan. This beautifully crafted Arts & Crafts period piece features a striking hand-enameled floral design on a hand-formed copper box with the original patterned interior lining intact.
The underside bears the distinctive impressed workshop mark found on other examples attributed to Ando Jubei and early Nagoya enamel production. The construction, interior paper lining, and enamel technique closely correspond to documented Japanese Arts & Crafts copper boxes from the Meiji–Taisho era.
The raised enamel decoration displays exceptional color and depth, combining turquoise, ivory, cobalt blue, and copper tones in an elegant floral composition. The original geometric interior lining remains present, adding to the authenticity and desirability of the piece.
A scarce and highly collectible example of early Japanese decorative arts, suitable for collectors of Ando cloisonné, Japanese enamels, Arts & Crafts design, and antique Asian decorative objects.
