Description
Antique / vintage Japanese stoneware pottery set consisting of a square bowl and matching handled pitcher.
Both pieces feature expressive hand-painted scholar figures and abstract decorative elements in turquoise, blue, red, brown, cream, and green tones over a heavily crackled glazed surface.
The set was acquired at sale and was cataloged by the sale house as:
“Antique Ogata Kenzan Stoneware Pitcher And Bowl.”
The decoration, crackle glaze, and figural style are consistent with pottery made in the Ogata Kenzan / Kenzan-style tradition. Exact maker and date have not been independently authenticated, so the attribution should be considered based on the sale description and visual characteristics of the pieces.
The bowl has a square form with rounded corners and hand-painted decoration both inside and around the exterior. The matching pitcher features a rounded body, loop handle, narrow neck, and coordinating figural decoration.
Condition is good for age with extensive glaze crazing, surface wear, discoloration, and other minor age-related imperfections. No obvious major cracks or repairs were observed during inspection.
Please review all photos carefully, as they are part of the description and show the exact items you will receive.
Sold as a matching 2-piece set.
