Antique Japanese Umbrella \"Wagasa\" 1930\'s to 1940\'s. I am positive this example predates the touristic versions made. My Mother was in Gifu China in the 1930\'s and 1940\'s. This was hers. So this umbrella is in amazing condition. It has been in a teak chest for many decades. I enjoyed discovering it. I think it should be displayed open. The canopy pleats were treated with an oil/wax from the time. The art work still looks amazing.
I have seen examples of these umbrellas not nearly as nice looking sell for as high as 900.00. I have many items I am trying to sell, and will be fine with this selling for $200.00. If I had a place to display it properly, I would keep it mysef.
