Antique hand-painted Limoges porcelain relish or olive dish, c. 1891–1914.
This oval dish has a green underglaze \"LIMOGES FRANCE\" star mark, generally attributed to the Coiffe factory. It was made as a porcelain blank and then hand painted, most likely by a skilled china painter of the era, when decorating French blanks was a popular art in America.
The decoration features soft pink and white cabbage roses with green and lavender foliage and thorny brown branches, circling a creamy center. The embossed rim has a beaded and scrolled border and is finished with a hand-painted teal edge. There is a faded red overglaze mark on the underside, likely the painter\'s initials or signature, but it is worn and not fully legible. The underside also has an impressed mold number.
Measurements: approx. 7\" long x 3\" wide x 1\" deep
Condition: Good antique condition with no chips or cracks noted [please verify]. There is light age discoloration in the well and a small brown spot in the center, both typical of porcelain of this age. The painted decoration is bright, with minor wear consistent with age. Lovely for a vanity, as a ring or trinket dish, or for serving. A nice addition to any Limoges, hand-painted china, or cottage-style rose collection.
