Description: This evocative Japanese ink painting was created by Kōbai (黄梅), an accomplished painter working in the traditional literati ink painting (Nanga/Bunjinga) tradition. Titled \"Gekka Hakubai-zu (月下白梅図)\" (Moonlit White Plum Blossoms), the composition centers upon an ancient, rugged plum tree bending with organic power, its branches bursting into a profusion of delicate white blossoms beneath the pale glow of a full moon. In Japanese artistic tradition and Zen philosophy, the white plum blossom (Hakubai) is celebrated as an emblem of unyielding endurance, purity, and spiritual renewal, being the first blossom to bloom amidst the lingering winter cold to herald the arrival of spring. The tranquil moonlight enhances a mood of quiet contemplation and classic Wabi-Sabi beauty. Rendered with dynamic monochrome ink brushstrokes, subtle ink gradations, and delicate white pigment highlights on antique paper, this wide-format hanging scroll imparts a timeless atmosphere of meditative serenity to a tea ceremony alcove, study, or modern interior gallery. The lower left bears the artist\'s signature \"Kōbai\" alongside an authentic gourd-shaped red seal stamp.

Size: Approx. 21.9\" x 77.2\" (55.5 x 196.0 cm) (Overall), Approx. 16.3\" x 42.9\" (41.5 x 109.0 cm) (Work) (Width x Height).
