Antique Pair of 9c Gold Convertible Brooch/Necklace Set w/ Amethyst, Seed Pearls: $895.00
Antique (Victorian?) pair of items; a station necklace and convertible brooch/pendant, made of 9 karat gold, set with amethysts, and the brooch//pendant also has seed pearls, though the station necklace itself does not. The number of pearls is approximately 28, and one single tiny one is missing but a suitably sized replacement couldnt be located. The brooch is stamped on the back \"9c\" (indicating 9 karat gold), and also an additional mark that looks like it may be a \"W\" but is difficult to tell with certainty. The necklace is slighty over 16 inches long, and has a tube/barrel clasp. The brooch has a small pendant hoop on the back at the top, the loop actually being a curved hook pin, which is what makes the brooch functional as a pendant as well, and halfway down there is a hinged horizontal pin that can be used to fasten the brooch if being used separately, and the hook/loop at the top on back may or may not have always been curved as it is now, if not then it could also be used as additional anchoring point for wearing the item in it\'s brooch form. The necklace features 10 (ten) Amethysts total, mounted in prong basket settings, then stones are cut in a varying style of old-world faceting shapes, (round, square, diamond), with three of them dangling from below the fixed-station stones. The brooch has three (3) Amethyst total, one very large cushion-cut which is wrapped in it\'s own gold bezel and located in the exact center of the brooch. The other two amethysts are both round, considerably smaller, and set into gold collar settings located with one on the lefthand outermost point of the brooch, and one on the righthand extremity, as well. The Amethyst are extremely nice, only some modest inclusions (feathering) which is only detectable at a very oblique angle and only very close-up, they\'re not noticeable at all otherwise. I don\'t want to label them as \"Siberian Amethyst\" despite their striking tone of color that seems to match, only because I don\'t know for sure, its only a hunch. Either way, the amethysts are gorgeous. The outer parts of the brooch have some very small but still lovely filigree elements to their composition and style. If you have any questions that were not covered in the description above, then please do feel free to send a message and ask, but please do so Before buying/offerding, rather than after.
