This is a wonderful Antique Smoke Decorated Bentwood Pantry Box retaining its original painted surface. The box features a beautifully aged reddish-brown ground with dark smoke decoration, extensive natural crazing, wear and rich old patina throughout.Constructed in traditional bentwood form with overlapping sides and small tacks, the box measures approximately 8” in diameter x 3 5/8” high. The fitted lid retains the same original smoke-decorated surface as the body, giving the piece a particularly strong primitive folk art appearance.A beautiful early piece of primitive country Americana with a very desirable original smoke-decorated painted surface, perfect for a collection of early pantry boxes, painted woodenware, folk art, country primitives or AAFA decor.The box is being offered in as-found condition.
