The scene features a carefully maintained lawn divided by curving walkways, mature shade trees, decorative lamp posts and an ornamental statue positioned atop a large stone pedestal. A formal entrance gate and several substantial buildings are partially visible through the trees in the background.
The statue appears to depict a seated or crouching human figure. The setting may have been associated with a school, hospital, government institution, veterans’ home or landscaped public park, but neither side of the postcard provides a location or identification. It is therefore being offered as an unidentified historical scene.
The image has an unusual blue-gray or cyan-toned appearance caused either by the original photographic process or by age-related chemical changes to the photographic emulsion.
The reverse has an early generic “Post Card” design with the instruction “This Side for the Address.” It was never mailed and contains no message or location information.
Likely dates from approximately the antique condition with substantial age-related wear and photographic deterioration. The front has pronounced blue-gray discoloration, silvering or chemical deterioration, particularly throughout the darker areas. There is considerable emulsion loss, flaking and surface abrasion around the upper edge and portions of the lower border, along with scattered scratches, marks, fading and general surface wear.
The corners are rounded and worn, with additional edge wear and age toning. The reverse has widespread foxing, spotting, discoloration and a small pencil or dealer notation. The card is unused and remains intact. The central landscape, paths, lamp posts and statue remain clearly visible despite the deterioration. Please examine both scans carefully for the complete condition.
