Antique European full-hunter pocket/pendant watch, believed to date from the early 20th century.
The gold-filled/rolled-gold (doublé) case bears a distinctive bull/buffalo trademark believed to be associated with Gustav Rau of Pforzheim, Germany, together with the French marking “GARANTIE 10 ANS” (10-year guarantee).
The case is numbered 118106, with matching numbers/partial numbers appearing on the corresponding case components.
The watch features a white enamel dial with decorative Arabic numerals, minute markers and ornate period hands. The dial has visible age-related hairlines/cracks, which are shown in the photographs.
The watch is fitted with an unsigned mechanical hand-wound movement with a cylinder-type escapement.
The watch currently winds and ticks/runs. It has not been professionally serviced or tested for accuracy or power reserve. No guarantee is made regarding timekeeping, length of run or future operation, and servicing is recommended before regular use.
Important Condition Information
The inner dust cover/cuvette is detached from its hinge and is included loose with the watch. It is a matching-number case component and is not believed to be a replacement. Please examine the photographs carefully for the condition of the cover and hinge area.
The case shows age-related wear, scratches, rubbing, discoloration and areas of finish loss consistent with an antique watch. The watch has not been polished or restored by me.
