Antique Thai Cambodian Repousse Brass Tea Caddy Humidor Wood Lined Hanuman Box:
$75.00
For sale is an exceptionally well-preserved antique Southeast Asian colonial-era tea caddy or tobacco humidor, dating from the late 19th to early 20th century. This compact 3.5\" x 3.5\" piece features an intricately hand-hammered brass or bronze repoussé outer sleeve wrapped around a premium, precision-turned solid wood interior lining. The main body displays beautifully detailed figures nestled within dense floral and foliate scrolls, while the lid features a prominent high-relief depiction of Hanuman (the Monkey God) amid swirling clouds—a classic motif in traditional Thai and Cambodian art. The metal boasts a fantastic, unpolished dark antique patina with subtle green verdigris highlights in the deep recesses, while the hand-turned single-block wooden liner remains remarkably clean, intact, and free of cracks. This beautiful piece of historic craftsmanship is structurally sound and makes a stunning decorative artifact or functional collector\'s item.
