Antique / vintage hand-wound glass bead strand measuring approximately 25 inches long.These are large, individually made mandrel-wound glass beads with beautiful multicolor striped and trailing decoration. The primary colors are RED, YELLOW, BLUE and WHITE, with some beads showing additional subtle shades created by the glass decoration.The beads are approximately 3/4 inch (19 mm) wide, with natural variation from bead to bead.Based on their construction, appearance and comparison with known examples, these are believed to be antique trade beads and are attributed to Venetian / European glassmaking traditions, possibly made for the African trade. Exact maker, country of manufacture, place of use and exact date are UNKNOWN and are not guaranteed.The beads appear consistent with late 19th to early 20th century styles, but the stated era is an attribution only.
