Large antique decorative art-pottery charger featuring a naturalistic raised floral design with poppies, foliage and two orange butterflies on a gray/taupe ground.
Approximately 20 inches in diameter (please confirm measurements from the photos). The decoration appears hand applied in thick raised slip/enamel, sometimes described as barbotine-style work. The reverse has an old wire hanger, a Rubin Collection provenance label, a small partial label that appears to reference England, and a handwritten collection/inventory tag.
Based on its form, body and decoration, this appears consistent with late Victorian English art pottery, likely circa 1880-1900. No factory mark is visible in the supplied photographs, so it is being sold as maker unknown and is not attributed to Wedgwood. The Rubin Collection label identifies prior collection provenance, not the manufacturer.
Antique used condition with overall crazing, surface wear, light scratches and age-related soiling. No obvious large chips or cracks are visible in the photos. Please examine every photograph closely for exact condition and included details.
A striking, substantial display piece for a wall, cabinet or collection of Victorian ceramics and English art pottery. Sold exactly as pictured.
