This Victorian cross pendant is made of antique Whitby jet. I tested it on raw ceramic and it left a brown streak. That’s how you test. Plastic won’t leave a mark. People during the Victorian era carved these dramatic pieces during the mid to late 1800s as deeply symbolic mourning or fashion jewelry. The dark material has a smooth finish and shows light age-related wear that adds to its authentic charm.
