This is an antique Victorian Lady's Hand Metal Paperweight. I believe it is a white metal alloy with a gold/bronze gilt. You can see areas on the hand that have worn to a silver color metal underneath the gold color outer gilt. I can't find any markings.See all photos.
- It is heavy, it weighs 12.3 ounces and is about 4.75" long. It is not cast iron because it was not magnetic.
- I did not try to clean it - I'll leave that up to you.
- Thehand lays flat so pretty sure it's a desk paperweight.
- I showed pictures of the hand to AI and it thought it dates to 1880 - 1900 - but I'm no expert and AI can be wrong. See all Condition. Old patina with rubbing wear to raised surfaces consistent with age. A number of light surface scratches/marks.SEE ALL PHOTOS.
