For sale is an 1880\'s Victorian art I\'llwith an elegantly ruffled, hand-folded rim. The slender trumpet column is intricately wrapped with a hand-applied rigaree that winds down the length of the stem, adding spectacular texture and movement. It features a beautiful, hand-manipulated pushed-in button pontil on the recessed underside of the base. This piece originates from the legendary Stourbridge glassmaking region of England.
This piece of glass has withstood the tears of time, of nearly 150 years without any chips, cracks or repairs. True to its late-19th-century, hand-blown origin, there are a few tiny, natural trapped air bubbles within the glass. No issues noted. *I used a gray and white background as clear glass is notoriously difficult to capture accurately because of how it reflects light! To show you the absolute best detail, I used a mix of white and gray backgrounds. The varying contrasts help highlight the subtle textures of the hand-applied spiral trail, the rim folds, and the crystal-clear clarity.
