Up for sale is a magnificent and 100% complete Victorian electroplated silver egg coddler (egg boiler) by the world-renowned Sheffield silversmiths, Joseph Rodgers & Sons.
Dating back to the late 19th or early 20th century, this theatrical breakfast piece features a classic egg-shaped body resting on an ornate, stylized three-legged pedestal stand.
What makes this particular piece incredibly rare and highly collectible is its completeness. While these sets are usually found missing pieces over the decades, this set retains all of its original components:
1. The main egg-shaped water vessel and decorative lid.
2. The original interior removable 4-egg wire rack with a central loop handle.
3. The original, matching spirit burner/alcohol lamp with its long handle (which slides perfectly into the base).
Maker's Marks:
The underside of the base is clearly stamped with the famous Joseph Rodgers & Sons "Star and Maltese Cross" trademark (granted in 1764), alongside "SHEFFIELD", the initials "E P" (Electroplated), and the original factory design catalog number "4466".
