These were my grandmothers and she bought them in the 1940s.
These beautiful figures feature a striking glossy turquoise/blue glaze, detailed molded decoration, traditional robes, and elaborately decorated wave-patterned bases. The vivid turquoise color is particularly attractive and makes these figures an eye-catching decorative pair.
Both figures are marked “CHINA” on the underside.
The figures are being sold as a matching pair and are the exact two pieces shown in the photographs.
Approximate Age
The figures were purchased in the late1940sTheir exact date of manufacture is unknown, so they are being offered as vintage circa 1940s rather than being represented as having a documented manufacturing date.

These are older vintage porcelain figures with condition issues that should be carefully noted before purchasing.
Previous repairs to the heads
Both figures were broken at the neck/head at some point in the past and were subsequently repaired.
The repairs were made many years ago and the heads currently appear to be stable and securely attached. There is, however, a visible repair seam around the neck area, particularly when viewed from the rear/side.
The repair is clearly visible in the photographs, and buyers should review the photographs carefully.
Additional age-related wear
There is also wear and loss to portions of the underside of the bases, including areas where the ceramic surface is exposed. There are additional signs of age, handling and wear consistent with older porcelain.
The turquoise glazed surfaces remain very attractive overall, although there are areas of minor surface wear and imperfections.
These pieces have not been recently restored. They are being sold in their current vintage, previously repaired condition.

Because of the previous repairs, these figures should be handled and displayed with appropriate care.
