Wonderful old dollhouse miniature blanket chest / hope chest constructed of solid wood with a warm reddish-brown finish and lots of authentic vintage character.The chest features a hinged lid, small metal side hardware, short bracket-style feet, and beautifully visible interlocking finger/box-jointed corners. The interior is unfinished natural wood.Measures approximately 4¼” long × 2½” deep × 2” high, appropriate for approximately 1:12 scale.This is clearly an older miniature that has actually been enjoyed and used. It shows age-related surface marks, rubbing and mellowing to the finish, but in a very appealing way rather than looking abused. The lid opens properly and the chest remains solid and displayable.The reddish wood has the appearance of cedar, although the wood species has not been verified.A particularly charming early miniature with excellent construction details and genuine age character.
