Antique Wax Seal E R Monogram Opalescent Glass or Stone Handle For Sale

Beautiful and unusual antique wax seal featuring an intertwined E.R. monogram on the seal matrix and a distinctive translucent, milky handle with blue, gray, pink and purple color flashes.

The handle material is currently UNCONFIRMED. I originally believed it was glass, but after closer examination, including viewing the material under transmitted light, I believe either opalescent/opaline glass or a natural stone such as chalcedony/agate are possibilities. I have intentionally not scratched or damaged the handle to determine its composition.

The translucent material has a smooth polished surface and interesting internal cloudy/veined characteristics. I have not observed any obvious perfectly round bubbles within the material.

The metal mounting was tested using a touchstone and silver-testing acid. The metal did not test as silver. The antique piece has not been professionally tested or authenticated.
