Antique cardboardEMPRESSTHEATRE SIGN: \"Everybody is Talking about the Good Shows given at THE EMPRESS, bargain matinees every Wednesday and Saturday\". Mid-century, possibly as old as the 1930\'s to early 40\'s at the latest (the font and printing process, the type of paper and it\'s toning from age all point to that era, pre-50s for sure); it measures 21x11 inches; you can see some ink lettering and slight impressions of lettering on the back. I got this in Seattle from the back room of a 100-year-old (at the time) bookstore; most likely it is from a Seattle-area movie theater.
SEATTLE HAS HAD TWO EMPRESS THEATERS, both during the Vaudeville years; the first, located at 2nd Ave & Spring St, was renamed from the Majestic in 1911 and later became the Palace Hippodrome before becoming a parking garage in the 1930\'s. The other was on Market Street in Ballard, it was first called the Princess and renamed the Empress in 1918; it also closed in the 1930\'s.
CONDITION is GOOD/ACCEPTABLE, the photos clearly show the damage, there no hidden tears or flaws.
