Beautiful antique framed porcelain scenic plate, believed to date to the late 19th/early 20th century, circa 1880–1920.
Features a finely detailed Alpine-style mountain landscape surrounded by a striking deep raspberry/magenta ground with extensive gilt decoration, raised gold embellishments and delicate gold-dot detailing.
The porcelain plate measures approximately 9.5” in diameter and is housed in a substantial 12.5” round gilt wood frame.
The reverse retains its old wood backing, paper mounting, slotted hardware and twisted hanging wire. The center portion of the backing was carefully opened to look for a maker’s mark; none was visible. I chose not to remove the plate or disturb the original mounting further.
Maker and country of origin are unknown. Dating is an estimate based on the decorative style and apparent age/construction of the framing and mounting.
Very attractive antique condition with expected age-related wear and patina to the frame, gilding and mounting. Please see all photos for details and condition.
