A beautiful late Victorian amber pressed-glass gondola-shaped dish, attributed to Henry Greener / Greener & Co., Sunderland, England, c.1890.This highly decorative piece has a distinctive elongated gondola form with elaborate moulded scrollwork, floral/geometric decoration, raised ends and decorative feet. The warm amber glass produces wonderful golden reflections when displayed in natural light.Henry Greener’s Sunderland glassworks was an important producer of British pressed glass, and during the 1890s Greener & Co. produced increasingly complex designs that imitated fashionable brilliant-cut glass.
