A rare opportunity to own this fantastic antique, late 19th century Racing pigeon carrying box.
It is made from handwoven wicker, painted and lacquered with two latched basket weave doors which have small metal latches to open.
It has a leather handle though this has come detached on one side would need repair and the leather is a later replacement.
It has a plywood base which is solid and strong also a replacement.
A very scarce and fine item to own, perfect for the sporting collector or pigeon racing fanatic.
It is English made, late 19th century Victorian era.
There is a metal plaque to the top of the basket which reads; return empty to V. Lynas, Dinsdale Station Darlington.

Condition:Fair used condition overall, signs of use and wear commensurate with age, some wicker loss and basket is fragile, leather handle replacement but broken, plywood base a replacement.
