A vivid orange field with bold black diamonds running across it.Azilal rugs come from the central Atlas, and unlike the neutral Beni Ourain they were never quiet —colour and symbol were the point. The diamonds and linear motifs here are traditional Berber signs ofprotection and prosperity, repeated in a rhythm that reads as contemporary graphic design and happensto be several centuries old.

The orange comes from vegetable dye made with local plants. It has a depth and a slight unevennessthat synthetic dye can\'t reproduce — look closely and you\'ll see the colour breathe across the field.

A strong colour does more work in a room than a neutral. If the rug is the boldest thing in thespace, size up — a colour rug that\'s too small reads as an accident rather than a decision.

New, handwoven in Morocco. Vegetable-dyed wool varies between dye lots, so the orange will shift intone across the field — that is the dye behaving as natural dye does, not a fault. Motifs are placed byhand and are never mechanically identical. Your rug will not be an exact match for the photograph, andno two are alike.

Screens render saturated orange inconsistently. The rug reads warmer and slightly deeper in personthan most monitors show, and it shifts noticeably under warm indoor light versus daylight. If the exacttone matters, message us and we\'ll send additional photos of the current batch before you order.

Vacuum without a beater bar. Blot spills immediately with a dry cloth — do not rub. For anythingbeyond a small spot, use a professional cleaner experienced with handwoven wool. New wool sheds for thefirst few weeks and settles with gentle vacuuming. Keep out of prolonged direct sunlight — vegetabledyes are beautiful but they will fade in a sunny window over years. Rotate twice a year. Single-sidedpile — not reversible.
