This a RARE old (c1850) Chinese Shekwan Mudman figure. Large (14x14x9\") Heavy (14 lbs) antique figure. An old man sits on a rock or wall examining his shoe. His clothing is a light blue-gray glaze, his shoe a red brown, his toenails white glaze (against his unglazed foot. The rock or wall is subtly multicolored.
Completely open at the bottom, showing that it is all handmade in the old molds. Lots of detail - his bony chest (not well photograpned), teeth, etc. Well-sculpted - great expression, realistically proportioned limbs, and an advanced storytelling quality.
