(1934–2008) was a master glassmaker and innovator born on the island of Murano, in the heart of the Venetian glassmaking tradition, and a central figure in the evolution of Murano artistic glass after the Second World War. Passionate about art, culture and design, Moretti combined historical knowledge of glass processing with sensitivity for contemporary language, giving life to a production that balanced formal rigor and technical experimentation. Together with his brother Giovanni, he founded the company in 1958 Carlo Moretti company, a reality that has stood out for its essential lines, crystalline quality and research into materials, gaining space in the main international museums and private collections. His work was not limited to production: Moretti was also the protagonist of the modernization of Murano techniques and the diffusion of Murano glass throughout the world, pursuing a balance between artisan memory and contemporary project which marked one of the most significant seasons of twentieth-century Italian glassmaking.
