Childhood of Famous Americans series Lot 3 Books BuffaloBill/DavyCrockett/Kit:
$59.99
Three classic volumes from the Childhood of Famous Americans series, originally published by The Bobbs-Merrill Company (Indianapolis and New York).
Augusta Stevenson was one of the most prolific authors in the series and wrote many of the early titles. The books typically run about 190–200 pages and include silhouette or line drawings.
These orange-covered hardcovers without dust jackets (or with jackets long since lost) are the classic mid-20th-century Bobbs-Merrill editions that many collectors and former child readers remember fondly. Later reprints appeared in different formats (including paperbacks from Aladdin/Simon & Schuster), sometimes with updated illustrators.
