A children\'s book published by McLoughlin Brothers of New York, 1867. Soft-Wrap with String Binding.

Story is accompanied by colorful illustrations that remain vivid almost 160 years later. I skimmed the pages, and the story line and pictures remind me a bit of The Wizard of Oz, Alice in Wonderland, and the nursery rhyme Peter Peter Pumpkin Eater.
Pages containing illustrations are blank on the reverse, so there are numerous blank pages throughout.
Unfortunately, the book has suffered irreparable damage: Missing corners at top and bottom of all open page edges, creases, edge wear, edge tears, soiling, staining. A prior owner placed this wide-but-thin book in a plastic sleeve, helping to mitigate further damage. At some point, the book was torn about 1.5\" in the middle of the open edge. Thus, all pages were taped there to keep the tear from spreading inward. Small burn spots exist on a few pages (my theory is that a previous owner liked to read her book near her family\'s open hearth and stray embers landed on the open page and then burned through a couple more). The book is yellowed from age. There is a gauzy white tape strip along the thin spine that looks like it was added for reinforcement post-publishing.
