Beautiful matching pair of vintage Italian carved alabaster table lamps in a Neoclassical urn form, dating to circa 1940s.
These are an especially attractive and substantial pair, with architectural styling throughout. Each lamp features a tall turned alabaster body centered by a deeply carved four-sided floral/rosette section, a fluted lower element, and a square pedestal resting on a separate gray-veined marble plinth.
The natural stone has wonderful variation throughout, ranging from creamy ivory and white to subtle gray veining. The sculptural quality makes these equally appealing as functional lighting or as decorative objects in a traditional, Hollywood Regency, Neoclassical, Italian, or eclectic interior.
An exact matching pair has been documented in the decorative-design market as Italian Neoclassical alabaster table lamps, making this a particularly nice opportunity to acquire the complete matching pair.
CONDITION:
Both lamps are in VERY FINE cosmetic condition for their age. The alabaster and marble present beautifully, with the carved decoration remaining crisp and attractive. Please examine the photographs closely for the natural coloration, veining and minor signs of age associated with vintage stone.
IMPORTANT ELECTRICAL NOTE:
Both lamps are due for rewiring. The existing cords/plugs appear to be later replacements and should not be considered original to the lamps. Because these are vintage electrical fixtures, they are being sold with the expectation that the buyer will have both lamps professionally rewired/inspected before use.
