Come to Germany 1935 Vintage Travel Poster Reproduction
About this poster:
This vintage travel poster from circa 1935 invites viewers to \"Come to Germany.\" The artwork by Max Eschle features a striking, golden-hued statue of a heroic figure in the foreground. This central image is set against a cool blue background that showcases a montage of iconic German landmarks. The composition includes depictions of the Cologne Cathedral, the Brandenburg Gate in Berlin, a medieval cityscape, and a castle nestled in mountainous terrain.
The artistic style is a powerful blend of Art Deco\'s clean lines and the monumental, heroic realism prevalent in the era. The limited color palette of gold and blue creates a dramatic contrast, emphasizing both the ancient and modern aspects of the nation. The poster was created to promote tourism by highlighting Germany\'s rich cultural heritage, architectural wonders, and scenic landscapes. It was published by the Reichsbahnzentrale für den Deutschen Reiseverkehr, the central office for the German state railway, as part of a campaign to attract international visitors.
This poster was produced during a significant period in German history. In the mid-1930s, leading up to the 1936 Berlin Olympics, the German government launched a major international tourism campaign. Posters like this were designed to project an image of a peaceful, modern, and culturally sophisticated country. The artwork serves as a historical document, reflecting the official aesthetic and promotional strategies employed by Germany during that time.
Our vintage-style travel posters capture the timeless spirit of adventure and nostalgia. This classic piece embodies the allure of bygone eras and invites you to explore the world as it once was.
