Today I am offering up for public sale a rare Maine patent medicine bitters bottle that was probably made at the Marlboro Street, Keene New Hampshire glass factory in the 1830's or 1840's. The bottle is embossed "DR. MANLY HARDY'S/ GENUINE / JAUNDICE BITTERS / BANGOR ME." on allfour of the bottles sides. This bottle has a big tubular open pontil scar with a pontil chip on its base. This bitters is quite rare, and very seldom comes up for sale. It's a nice boxy bitters bottle with beveled corners, similar in style to the S O RICHARDSON'S BITTERS bottles, but much less common. This example is in a light bluish green aqua in color, and has tons of whittle. My pictures show it both inside and outside the house so you can see it in various stages of lighting. This bottle has a tiny nick out of one of the bottom edge panel corner, but remains a near top shelf example of this rare bitters for your collection.--
