A substantially complete copy rebound in period half leather over marbled boards.
The surviving contents appear consistent with the 1857 John Murray edition, although the title page is lacking and the precise bibliographical issue cannot therefore be conclusively verified.
The portrait, folding geological section and original John Arrowsmith detailed route map are present. The route map is detached, torn into sections and damaged but substantially survives.
I have carefully collated the book against the List of Illustrations. All listed illustrations are present except the Victoria Falls frontispiece. The separate Map of South Africa is lacking.
Also lacking are:
- Title page (and probably half-title)
- Victoria Falls frontispiece
- Separate Map of South Africa
- Pages 687/688 (torn out, retaining a small stub)
- Final index leaf or leaves
Please refer to the condition description for full details of condition and defects.
as much detail as possible shown in photos
I am selling a lot of my books now as \'instant library\' to clear. They tend to be approx 10-15kg - mostly hardback unless otherwise stated and all shown in photos. The books in each lot are ALWAYS exactly what you see in the pics.
I AM CLEARING OUT MY STOCK OF MANY THOUSANDS OF BOOKS IN NUMEROUS CATEGORIES SO HOPEFULLY THERE WILL BE LOTS OF GOOD / EVEN BETTER!! VALUE ITEMS OVER THE NEXT FEW WEEKS - they will be priced to sell!!!!!
will be carefully packed and sent via courier
PLEASE NOTE: I CANNOT COMBINE SHIPPING - THE MAJORITY OF MY LOTS ARE BOTH BULKY AND HEAVY - IF PURCHASING FROM OUTSIDE THE UK ITEMS MUST BE CHECKED OUT AND PAID FOR SEPARATELY AND WILL BE SENT SEPARATELY - THE GSP AUTOMATICALLY REQUIRES EVERYTHING TO BE PUT IN THE SAME BOX AND DOES NOT ALLOW ITEMS TO BE PACKAGED SEPARATELY WHICH IS IMPRACTICAL FOR WEIGHT AND PACKAGING REASONS AND I WILL HAVE TO CANCEL MULTIPLE ORDERS LIKE THIS - APOLOGIES
all books shown in photos
There will probably be a few duplicates - I have tried to weed some outwhat you see is what you getthe majority of the books appear to be in acceptable to good condition - especially for age -PLEASE SEE CONDITION DESCRIPTION ABOVE.
