Doctor Who: Head Games by Steve Lyons (Paperback, 1995) – Virgin New Adventures #43Item Overview
Up for sale is a collectible vintage copy of Doctor Who: Head Games by Steve Lyons. Published by Virgin Publishing in September 1995, this is the milestone 43rd novel in the celebrated Virgin New Adventures (VNA) series.
Starring the Seventh Doctor, Bernice Summerfield, Roz Forrester, and Chris Cwej, Head Games is an extraordinary, meta-fictional psychological thriller. Penned by acclaimed author Steve Lyons, this volume serves as a direct prose sequel to the legendary 1968 Second Doctor television story The Mind Robber as well as Lyons\' hit earlier novel Conundrum. Featuring guest appearances by classic television companions Melanie Bush and Ace, this novel is a cornerstone Wilderness Years release that confronts the moral cost of the Seventh Doctor\'s chessmaster manipulations.
About the Book & Lore
Stand by for an exciting new adventure with \"Dr Who\" and his trusty companion, Jason! Once again, our time-hopping heroes set out to defeat injustice, overthrow tyrannical dictators, and battle rubbery green monsters.
Except this isn\'t television—it\'s reality warping at the seams.
On the world of Detrios, reality is breaking down under the influence of the Master of the Land of Fiction. Jason, a comic-book pulp adventurer brought to life, believes he is fighting alongside the \"real\" heroic Doctor. But the arrival of the actual Seventh Doctor—accompanied by Benny, Roz, and Chris—shatters the illusion. To Jason and the fictional denizens of the Land, the real Doctor is not a benevolent hero, but a chilling, genocidal manipulator who sacrifices companions and moves lives like pawns.
When former companion Mel Bush is pulled into the crossfire alongside a battle-hardened Ace, the Doctor is forced into a psychological reckoning inside his own shattered psyche—where personifications of his past regenerations put the Seventh Doctor on trial for what he has become.
